William G. Sobeck, Sr.

William G. Sobeck, Sr. age 89 of Forked River, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. Born in Nanticoke, PA, he lived in Shark River Hills, Neptune, NJ prior to moving to Forked River. Bill was the Vice President of Operations for the Tire Trading Company in Newark for 30 years. He was a Merchant Marine and served in the US Navy during WWII. Bill was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing; he was an Exempt Member the Shark River Hills Fire Co., Past President of the Shark River Hills Beach and Yacht Club, a member of the Old Guard of Forked River, and was involved in many activities in the Pheasant Run community. Bill is survived by his wife Doris; his son Bill Jr; his daughter Nancy; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends may attend visiting hours on Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm at Lacey Memorial Home 1022 Lacey Road Forked River. A private interment service will take place in the Brig. Gen. WC Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital in memory of Bill.
