Mary Ellen Pisarro

Mary Ellen (McCarthy) Pisarro, 64, of Barnegat passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023 after a long and courageous fight against cancer. Born in Jersey City, Mary Ellen lived there until moving to Forked River in 1972. She settled in Barnegat in 1997.

Prior to her retirement in 2021, she worked in the health-care field for 47 years, most recently as a medical secretary in the Hematology Unit of Southern Ocean Medical Center, Manahawkin, and was the co-owner of Ohana Bites Mobile Food Truck. A 1976 graduate of Central Regional High School, she was a member of the VFW Post 9503 Ladies Auxiliary, Bayville, and enjoyed crocheting, doing crosswords, and watching TV, especially the Real Housewives.

Mary Ellen was predeceased by her daughter, Megan McCarthy Gough in 2021, and by her parents, Timothy and Mary (O'Grady) McCarthy. She is survived by her husband, Dominick A. Pisarro Jr.; her son, Timothy Pisarro; her sisters, Sissy Kozak and Maureen Atchley; her fur-child, Buddy; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in law, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Viewing will be Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 4-8 pm at Forked River Funeral and Cremation Service, 1022 Lacey Road, Forked River. Msgr. Ken Tuzeneu, Pastor of St. Mary's Parish, Barnegat, will conduct vigil prayers at 6:30pm. For those who cannot attend the visitation on Thursday, a brief visitation will also be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 10:00-11:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30pm at St. Mary RC Church, 747 West Bay Avenue, Barnegat. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions honoring Mary Ellen to either St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or St. Mary's Parish be considered.
