Joseph F. Zawada, age 74, of Jackson passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus, Lakewood. Born in Kassel, Germany, he came to the United States in 1950, settling in Perth Amboy. He lived there and in Carteret for many years until moving to Jackson ten years ago. A US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Zawada worked as a steel fabricator for over fifty years and was the owner of Jemco, Inc. in Manalapan. He was an animal lover, particularly dogs and horses, and was a TV aficionado. He is survived by his wife, Rose (Agolio) Zawada; his children, Tina Zawada of Jackson, NJ, Tanya Zawada of Temple, GA, and Joseph Zawada IV and his wife Melissa of Jackson; his grandchildren, Joshua, Alex, Kayla, Jay, Ryan, Nicholas, Joseph V, and Jacob; his sister, Agnes Nesmith and her children Alicia and Aron; and he was loved by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be Friday, September 27, 2019 from 5-9pm at Lacey Memorial Home, 1022 Lacey Road, Forked River. A blessing will be offered at 8:30pm, followed by military honors. Cremation will be private.
