Joseph Kelly

Bayville, NJ- On Wednesday June 8, 2022, Joseph Anthony Kelly passed away surrounded by his loving family. He was 84 years old. Joseph was born on December 17, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York. He married Elizabeth Lenahan on September 19, 1959. Together, they raised three children - Joseph, Robert, and Susan. Joseph valiantly joined the Navy in October 1956 and served his country for three years overseas during the Korean War. Upon his return, he worked for the Board of Education of the City of New York. Joseph worked in the school districts for 30+ years, working his way up to become an engineer. Joseph was a talented woodworker and carpenter. He is known for his sense of humor and was always whistling. He loved decorating detailed scenes for each and every holiday. He was also an avid bird-watcher and loved animals. Joseph is predeceased by his parents, his brother Patrick Kelly, his son Bobby Kelly, and his granddaughter Nicole Kelly. He is survived by his wife, Liz, his son Joseph Kelly and daughter Susan Kelly Fontano, his grandchildren- Joseph Kelly, Tara Kelly, Brian Kelly, Kaitlyn Fontano, and Kristen Fontano, his sister Kay Chambers, his brothers- Jack Kelly and Chris Kelly, and many loved nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held in Joseph's honor on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Forked River Funeral and Cremation Service located at 1022 Lacey Road in Forked RIver, NJ 08731 from 6:00- 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions to your favorite animal welfare charity be considered.
