John J. Murray

John J. Murray, Jr., 78, passed away peacefully on November 20th, 2023, in Stafford Township, NJ.

Born, in New Rochelle, NY on April 19th, 1945 to parents Nora and John Murray Sr.. He graduated from New Rochelle High School and began his career with AT&T. Later John worked for New York Telephone and then retired from Verizon Communications where he was a master technician, splicer, installer and trouble-shooter during his tenure.

In the early seventies, he moved with his family to Ocean County, NJ and later settled in Fishkill, NY. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed coaching Little League and Senior League for the town of Fishkill, golfing, and travelling with his fellow travelers as well as spending precious time with his grandchildren. Mr. Murray was an avid fisherman, including surf fishing at the Jersey shore. He is a perfect example of a good guy finishing first.

John is predeceased by his mother, Nora Corridon, father, John J. Murray, Sr. and sister Patricia (Patsy) Murray. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Anne H. Murray; son, John with partner Desiree; daughters, Heather and Mary Beth with husband, Michael; sister, Eileen; and grandchildren, Morgan and Michael who he loved dearly.

Private services are being handled by Forked River Funeral and Cremation Services.
