John Bieljeski

John R. Bieljeski,75, passed away peacefully in his sleep in Jackson, NJ, following a long illness.


Born in Elizabeth NJ, to parents Chester and Mary Frances Bieljeski, John is survived by his sister Constance(Michael) Slack, of Ewing, and his sister-in-law Donna Bieljeski.


He was pre-deceased by his wife Ellen (Nerges) Bieljeski, and his brother William Bieljeski. He leaves behind four stepchildren, Max, Gabriel, Rose, and John Henry Nerges, four nephews, William and Jeffrey Bieljeski, Kevin and James Slack, and one niece Sarah(Slack) DiLiberto.


John spent the developing years of his life in Rahway NJ, where he attended Rahway public schools. He was a member of Rahway's Boy Scouts Troop 40, who awarded him his BSA's highest achievement in Eagle Scout.


While attending Monmouth College John became a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. While at Monmouth in 1969, he received the fraternity’s Solon E Sommerfield “Scholar of the Year” award. Following his graduation from Monmouth College in 1970, John had a 35-year career working for the state of New Jersey and disability determinations department.


John lived the majority of his adult life as a resident of Belmar NJ, where he enjoyed living near the ocean, sailing, and participating in Belmar's annual running activities. after retirement, John and his wife traveled extensively and then relocated to Ocean Isle Beach NC.


After his wife died in 2012, John continued to live in NC, until his struggles with Parkinson's disease necessitated his relocation back to NJ to be closer to the family. John will be remembered for his quick wit ready smile and enjoyment of interacting with many people he met throughout his life.
