Janet A. Sheridan, 86, of Forked River passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Newark, she grew up in Irvington and lived in Union and Fanwood before moving to Forked River 31 years ago. Mrs. Sheridan was a graduate of Irvington High School, and later worked for NJ Bell, Newark, for ten years until leaving to raise her family in 1962. She returned to school in 1980 to study Nursing, but had to stop for health reasons. A parishioner of St. Mary's RC Church, Barnegat, she enjoyed cooking, ceramics, and being with her family. Daughter of the late Christian and Emily Koegel, she is survived by her husband of 59 years, James; her children, Theresa Sheridan of Corning, NY and Thomas Sheridan and his wife Nancy of Toms River; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Forked River Funeral and Cremation Service, 1022 Lacey Road, Forked River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 10am at St. Mary's RC Church, Barnegat, with interment following at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
