Francis Matias

Francis Matias, 69, of Forked River passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Manhattan, he grew up in Lanoka Harbor and lived there for many years. Mr. Matias served in the Airforce until his honorable discharge in 1972. After, he was employed with Verizon for 33 years as a splicer and retired in 2005. He was an active member of Old Guard in Forked River and enjoyed playing tennis and golf. Francis had his black belt in the third degree. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his son Christopher; his twin brother William, his sister Christine Scharf, and his sister Michele Votaw; and his many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 18 from 4 - 7pm at Forked River Funeral and Cremation Services, 1022 Lacey Road, Forked River.
