Eleanor B Luehrs

Eleanor B. Luehrs, age 92, of Whiting, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. Born in Pontiac, NY, she lived in Jackson and Toms River before moving to Whiting. Eleanor was a Teacher and Librarian with the Jackson School District for 25 years before retiring in 1987. She was an active member of the Living Word Baptist Church in Beachwood. She loved gardening, crafts, playing board games, and spending time with her family. Eleanor was an amazing and energetic woman with a giving and charitable heart, reflected by the many people she helped throughout her years. Predeceased by her husband, Howard, Eleanor is survived by her 4 children; Denise (Albert) Plungis of Jackson; Daniel (Carol) Luehrs of Alabama; Debora (Michael) Waxer of California; and Howard (Karen) Luehrs of Indiana; her sister Marilyn Lautensack of Pennsylvania; her 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Eleanors Life will be held on Sunday, March 12th at 1:00P.M. at Living Word Baptist Church,320 Compass Ave., Beachwood, NJ 08722. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Doctors Without Borders, St. Jude Childrens Hospital or the Living Word Baptist Church.
