Dawn Ashman

September 10, 1974 — November 29, 2022

Dawn Patricia Ashman, 48, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 after a brief illness. She was born in Teaneck, NJ before she moved to Barnegat, NJ. She was a graduate of Southern Regional High School in Stafford Township, NJ, Class of 1993. Dawn was the Assistant Manager of Spirit Halloween in Manahawkin, NJ for many seasons as this was one of her favorite holidays to celebrate. An only child, and a Daddy's girl for sure, she really enjoyed the comforts of home. She liked to play Bingo, an activity she and her beloved mom would travel to both near and far. Their escapades led them to meeting many celebrities at events like Comic Con, concerts, and talk shows in NYC. They were a dynamic duo. She loved to travel and some of her fondest memories were the adventures she went on with her family and cousins to Disney World, Washington, DC, Salem, Cape Cod, and Newport, among many others. She was an animal rights activist and provided many strays a loving home. Her house became known as the "Home for Misfit Pets." However, her true passion was being an advocate for mental illness, specifically Bipolar Disorder in which she proudly displayed a semi-colon (;) tattoo to promote awareness of the cause. Her wish was that more people would have a better understanding of mental illness and the grief associated with it. She was truly a compassionate soul. She was predeceased by both her maternal and paternal grandparents. She is survived by her parents Glenn and Patricia Ashman, her Godmother Jeanette A. Marino and her many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. A celebration of life in her memory will be held at a future date. Events Details are pending.
